Altona Baptist Church - Vision Statement 2004

Introduction

The Altona Baptist Church has a variety of age groups that well represent a family. We continue to enjoy fellowship together as God's people. we recognise the importance of growth in Church memebership. we welcome the contribution from all sections of the Church community embracing a variety of spiritual gifts and cultures.

Vision

  1. To see our Church as a thriving place of worship in the years ahead.
  2. To be active in evangelism throughout the community.
  3. Commitment to Mission Support.
  4. To be known as a praying Church.
  5. To foster corporate and personal spiritual growth in Christ.

Requirements

  1. To turn this vision into reality requires great effort by all concerned, particularly our leaders. We accept responsibility of mutual support towards each other, in order that our fellowship remains viable, thus creating a "flow on" effect upon the lives of those whom we touch in daily living.
  2. Regular attendance at worship is of paramount importance.
  3. Whole hearted prayerful support of our Pastor, that he might be spiritually fulfilled and sustained as he leads us in service of the Lord

Evangelism

As members of the Christian failth, following the traditions of the Baptist Church, we affirm and assert the importance of sharing our faith in Christ, recognising his Supreme Sacrifice and resurrection that leads to repentance, salvation and life everlasting.

Relationships

  1. With God: We acknowledge God as the being central to the worship life of the Church and,
    1. constantly in prayer, praise Him in adoration for His nature (what He is).
    2. praise Him in thanksgiving for His "gifts" (what He does). He loves us and loves to hear our prayers of adoration and thanksgiving.
  2. With each Other: The Lord has blessed many of us with great gifts. We should be aware of each other's gifts and encourage the continual use of such gifts, that they may be used to the best advantage in the Lord's work. We remember that all gifts given by the Holy Spirit are gifts to His Church and not for our own personal use.
  3. To extend the hand of friendship and fellowship to those outside our Church.
  4. Caring and prayerful support of each other.

Commitment

To promote
  1. Small groups.
  2. Support and encouragement of missions.
  3. Outreach.
  4. Regular corporate prayer, encouraging a well developed prayer life.
  5. Sound Biblical teaching.

Our strategy is to implement the Vision Statement but not limited to just Commitment points 1 - 5.
